La Villa Gillet

The Villa Gillet is a research and dialogue centre dedicated to contemporary art and thought.
During the season that has just ended, more than 75 artists, writers and researchers from all over the world gathered to nourish a public reflection about the issues of our time. Each season is organised around a theme, and next year’s theme will be
«norm, margin».
Conferences, debates, readings and round-table conferences are followed by creations, performances, shows and readings during the
«Intranquilles» Festival. The festival was created in 2002, and is now co-organised with the Subsistances.
The Villa Gillet is a
«loi 1901» association. It is subsidised by «La Région Rhône-Alpes», the «Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles»(Cultural Affairs Regional Office), the City of Lyon, the «Centre National du livre» (National Book Centre).

Les Subsistances

Les Subsistances – an artistic creation laboratory dedicated to performing arts – have welcomed (as a place of residence) more than 10 artistic teams since January 2004, which means more than 250 artists from all over the world. Les Subsistances lead special projects with artists, focusing on areas of sensitivity like the new figurations of masculine and feminine, representations of crime and cruelty, links between memory and objects, or the presence of poetry on stage. These explorations find their conclusions in public events (workshops, tours, performances…) and festive events (Winter Week_End, ÇA CHAUFFE! and Spring Week_End ÇA TRANCHE! in 2005).
Les nouvelles Subsistances are a
«loi 1901» association subsidised by the City of Lyon, «La Région Rhône-alpes», and the «Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles» (Cultural Affairs Regional Office) for Rhône-Alpes.
